Reverse Applique

"A wallhanging of vibrant stylised floating flowers,
appliqued onto a space dyed background which is
heavily machine quilted (optional!).
As many or as few flowers as you like and leaves can be added! The flowers are embellished with stitching and beads or crystals.
Sewing machine essential and my flowers were attached using a small blanket stitch using the machine but a small zig-zag would work just as well"

In this Workshop we will be using Abigail Patner Glassenberg's book 'The Artful Bird: Feathered Friends to Make and Sew' to create a crafty creature full of character and personality. Materials will be provided, we just ask that you bring a sewing machine and any threads you have.
Please Note: Basic Sewing Machine skills are required, absolute beginners courses will be posted in the near future.

Classic
Cathedral Window
This is a technique (popularised by quilter Lynne Edwards) that everyone wants to learn. Over the course of two sessions you will be shown how to create the classic cathedral window units which will be made up into a beautiful cushion. It is mainly hand sewn with some easy machine sewing. Basic rotary cutting skills would be helpful as they will speed up the process.

Tesselating Pinwheels

This is an interesting design which starts by simply sewing squares together. Borders are then added, and the piece is recut into new squares which when rearranged form pinwheels. Once you have made one cushion you will want to make more or even a quilt. To join this class you should have basic rotary cutting skills and be able to sew an accurate 1/4" seam on your machine.
