Saturday 28th March 10am - 4pm

Please bring with you a basic sewing kit, including scissors, pins and measuring tape.

Fabric can be purchased from Karelia House with a 10% discount.

You can choose from a knit or woven fabric with the choice of patterns.  The two patterns available are very versatile pieces to have in your wardrobe.  If you have had enough of the knit fabrics you will have gained enough skills to make the wrap dress on your own and you could concentrate on the different skills in the skirt construction.  Your choice!

Patterns to choose from:

True Bias - Salida skirt

Sew over it - ultimate wrap dress

Skill Level: Intermediate

We have tried and tested all these patterns in-house and we think you will like them too!  We will advise on which one will be best suited to your skills and your figure.

What you will learn:

  • How to sew with the knit or woven fabrics
  • How to choose the correct stretch fabric according to the pattern
  • How to use an ovelocker with stretch fabrics
  • How to insert a zip on a woven fabric
  • How, where and what length of stitch to use when you are top stitching
  • How to use an overlocker to finish side seams in the woven fabrics
  • How to adjust patterns to make the garments longer or shorter
  • How to use a twin needle in your sewing machine
  • How to choose the best neckline finish for you
  • How to make a waistband
  • How to finish hems with a rolled hem on your ovelocker
  • How to customise existing patterns to suit your figure
